Help!!! I need some help in identifying what old shredder / brushhog I inherited from my Grandmothers farm. I can't find any ID numbers on it. It does have a gearbox with WARNER, AUBURN, IND on it and some other numbers on the PTO shaft. It has a 6 ft deck, and no 3-point attachment.
Some early Bush Hog competitors were ground powered. The rubber tires provided power to the blades through a gearbox. They had to be very heavy for traction. When Bush Hog's patents expired, shredders became almost universally Three Point Hitch mounted and PTO powered.
Yours looks like a towed, as opposed to mounted, design; so no lift capability.
Why are you worried about IDing it? You should be able to replace any busted parts with commodity off the shelf stuff. Gearbox, PTO shaft & blades are likely to be standard parts. If not, standard parts could be easily retrofit in as needed.
If I was a betting man, I'd say a Massey Ferguson. The gearbox style is different than the older ones, but still looks like a Massey Ferguson setup to me.
