Tractor
JD 4400 and Ford 4400
Hi everyone! New to posting on this site.
I just picked up a tractor on eBay to the tune of 2K. It was listed as a Bradco 660 with a trencher, six way grading blade and backhoe with 1800hrs. It looked like it was in horrible condition but was listed as "everything works". It ran for an hr before dying when I got it home. After going over it for a while I found none of the filters had been changed since the late 70's and the fuel smelled like gas had been mixed in. So after draining the fuel and changing the filter and some hoses and bleeding the system, it fired right up, no smoke or anything and has been running perfectly for the last week.
My problem is that I know bradco never made a tractor although all the attachments have bradco labeled on them. The id plate on the inside says ford and after a little research I belive it most likely a 4400 or a 4000. The Rops plate claims its a 4400 but it also says it has a GVW of 15,500 which seems "somewhat" high to me. If someone could help me with the year and exact make and model and HP. These were the numbers I pulled off the plate.
Model# D4012K
Tractor# C417005
Unit# 4C26B
Engine# 4B22A
Trans# 4B05B
Rear# 4B14C

The only thing that doesnt actually work is what looks to be some kind of add on creeper control labeled as a Bradco 4055 Creeper control. Is the some way to get a parts manual or info on how to operate/fix this as I need it for trenching because 1st lo is way too fast for trenching.
Any help is much appreciated.

I don't know myself, but it might help others here if you could attach a picture or two.

Welcome to the board! You'll have an answer very soon I'm sure. These guys are very informed and willing to share what they know.

You just posted the pics, they're working fine. My first thoughts are some commercial/industrial Ford based on what's left of the paint and the heavy duty look of the thing. Can't say I ever saw a front mounted backhoe on a tractor before. :)

The serial number indicates it was built in 1974, that year began with C405200, 1975 began with C450700. The 4400 was based off the 4000, last built in 1974.

I believe you will find the tractor was modified by Bradco at least that is what our factory rep feels they are still in business there phone # 800-922-2981 they may be able to help but write down every number you can find on everything before you call it will help.

Me niether, although with the weight of the trencher in the back and the grading blade acting as the stabilizer, it seems to work fairly well, although it was cracked and rewelded once or twice (probably more from the looks) and now it has a nice twist to it (in the boom I believe) that Im sure I'll spend more than a few hrs trying to reweld and straighten:mad:

As stated above it is a 1974 Ford 4400 Utility tractor which has been modified by Bradco. It was a 52 hp tractor. All of the compnent date codes are 1974 as well.
