need help John deere 2030

my john deere 2030 hyd just stoped working, no power steering ,no pto ,no front end hyd, help

Have you done the obvious, checked fluids, checked filters and screens, etc.

Do you know if the pump is actually turning?

I agree with J_J. Has any maintenance been performed. No pto if hyd operated indicates little to no oil being pumped by trans pump. Also check frt hyd coupler as they can fail. Be sure frt hyd pump shaft is turning with engine.

Where did you get the spec's you posted? 2.5 gal capacity is incorrect if that means capacity of gallons of reservoir.

IIRC hyd oil capacity on a JD utility tractor of that era is about 10 gallons.

Thank you for your reply, the fluid lev is ok, i can not tell if the front pump is turning until i get the loader off of the tractor , would the lift not work if the trans pump is working ?jim

Trans pump has nothing to do with the implement pump.

take a hose off the pump and place in a bucket and turn the engine with out starting.

If that does not work, start the engine for a few seconds to verify the pump is pumping.

Tx Jim is correct, 10 gallon capacity.
Trans pump supplies the main pump, so it does have something to do with it.
Do you have the independent PTO? It will have a lever between the shifters. My 2030 with independent PTO had a steel line for the PTO clutch break. When you engaged the PTO no hydraulics worked. All the flow was going back to sump thru this broken line. disengage the PTO and hydraulics worked. Tractor had to be split to replace this line.

not sure if i hit the right button, i have the indep pto, no hyd no matter what position , called my mec, he thinks either the pto clutch or broken shaft, i will clean the tractor up and he will come and help break it into and find the problem, thanks all, jim

Trans pump has nothing to do with the implement pump..

Trans pump has to supply oil to the frt pump because the frt pump has no ability to suck oil IE oil must be supplied to frt pump.

One doesn't need to remove loader to determine if frt pump shaft is turning. "Carefully crawl underneath tractor with engine running" and one can determine if pump shaft is turning. I'll advise you to do a lot more testing before splitting the tractor or more than likely you'll be splitting it more than once.

jim,,,I know that you can see the coupler turning and i can but i can not see if the pump shaft is turning, i have had to rebuild the shaft coupler several times on my 1020 which has over 50000 hrs on it, and it is the same setup.. but it will be easy to split tractor without the loader, and i am going to repaint tractor, and i have new fenders and hood to install.. thanks ,,jim

Wow 50,000 hrs is a lot of hrs on a machine. My main point is to complete good hyd diagnostics before splitting tractor. Closed-center hyd's can be a bear to diagnose problems.

Yes it is a lot of use, we use it every day hard, it has been overhauled two times, great little tractor,, we have 6 jd + jd lawn tractors, thanks for your help,the man coming to help is very good used to be shop forman in John Deere store, thanks, jim

Being a shop foreman is not a desirable position for peace of mind. At the dealership I was a service manager dealer wanted more profit from shop,customers complain about cost of repair and length of time for repair,most mechanics are similar to small children whining. BTDT

I was also a service manager for a large marine sales and service for 16 years. I always heard the old BS about the shop wasn't making any money. It was like the SS system, they sure could keep my checking account pulled down to almost 0. Evertime I would get $15000.00 to $20000.00 ahead for some reason the money had to be used some where else. Sure was fun if you didn't mind not sleeping wonder how am I going to pay the parts bill.
