The shaft on gets really hot and then the pulley gets hot then the belt melts and starts to come apart. Starts good runs goods but keep going through belts. Please help. Just got done trying a new clutch didn't work. Did tune up new oil oil filter spark plugs air filter fuel filter.

Which shaft?

The more likely problem is belt tension, slipping on the pulley.

A little more details might help others help you.

I assume that you're talking about your mowing deck drive belt??? Sounds like a bad bearing in one of the spindles. Try to spin things by hand and see which one is tough to spin ---- that one would be the problem.

The heat starts in the shaft the pto clutch slips onto the the pulley starts to get hot on the pto clutch then the belt. When I first start the mower and let it run for a minute or two I can feel the bolt that holds the pto clutch on and it is very warm and this is on a new pto clutch also if I also if I touch the big nut that comes up through the flywheel that is hot as well.
