need help pricing used 4' rototiller

Where i work we traded some equipment to/from another contractor and ended up with a massey ferguson 243 and this tiller came with it..
unit is a dixie.. no idea of age.. but from looking at metal.. would say 10+ years at least...gearbox looks decent inside and drivelie is tight.. no real leaks.. side box holds oil and doesn't make any odd noises.. cutter tines are ? 90% or so.

Owner is going to sell the tiller as he doesn't need it... asked me to find a price for it...

I've never needed or wanted a tiller so am not up on prices.. I do most of my stuff with a plow and disc.. but am thinking a tiller might be easier for a small garden..

If it were a mower or box blade I'd have a good idea of price.. but as i said.. not up on tillers... I think I'm interested in trying to get it...anyone have an idea what i might offer?

No clue on that brand . But the Grey market ones , Isekis in My case I was lucky to get 500 bucks each for 2 of them & 3 I let go for 300 apiece .

These were all 5 footers & in good working condition allthough some of the tines were well used . I had them advertised for over a year. Dont know if that helps or not . Depends on the Location I guess .

I heard they usually figure worth at 200 bucks a foot for a good used one. Not so in My area though. Bob

not sure of the brand but i bought my 5 1/2 delmorino and it cost 1200 used this was a good buy about 1/3 the cost of new. the paint could be better but i'm going to sand blast and the color match paint and the repaint. i think the 500 prce is cheap maybe that is all you could get. bring em up here they are worth more.

From what I've seen, the used tillers are close in price to used flail mowers if that helps. I know of an older decent no name flail at a dealer up here for $295. That's as low as I've seen one, and I've seen tillers for about the same price in fair to good condition. Most older ones are slightly higher though. I'd say $300 - $500 would be fair to both parties.
I also have used the plow and disk for gardens areas. I have 1/4 to 1/2 acre in garden. I saw a very nice idea some does with a tiller. They till strips the width of the tiller and leave 4-6' between with grass or ground cover. They do most of the work from those grass areas and don't compact the soil through the season. Makes for less maintenance in the garden, and nice fine soil for seed beds. That 4' tiller would be perfect for that.

Like so many implements, a tiller is worth as much as the eventual buyer will pay. Popular brands hold a good resale. Never heard of that brand though. But a decent tiller is still a hot item. You just don't find many on the used market.

If I was SELLING, I'd probably start off by asking $750 or so and offering the option of trades. If I was BUYING, I'd pass on anything more than $400. (I tend to buy where I can re-sell and turn a buck)

I have been checking prices on tillers 4 to 7 ft in our area, older off brands are selling $250-500 in ok to good condition. Name brands are high $200 per ft and up in useable condition, good condition higher. I live just a few miles down the road from y'all. scrapironford
