Need Help purchansing....

I live in Maine, looking to purchase a Cub Cadet. There is one that is for sale and wanted some advice to see if this is a fair price, here is what I know:

Model 3165, Apx. 500 Hours

New Snowblower, cant remember make but its Canidan made, has hydorliac lifts, Shaft drive

Mower Deck, Shaft Drive (Cub Cadet)

Weight, Chains

16hp Briggs

$4500.00

There is also a 20hp Briggs @ Home Depot, with a 48" Deck & Snowblower for $3500

Don't know about the home depot model, but the 3165 for 4500 is way overpriced in my opinion. This is the smallest 3000 series, and the Kohler command in the bigger machines is much better than the briggs. Is the snowblower even a Cub? Doesn't sound like it....I don't know if I'd go over 3000 for that particular setup. Sounds expensive to me. Good luck.

I'm with Scoutcub on this one. Even if you don't get into the Briggs/Kohler discussion, to me in the 3000 series I'd like to see 20 HP, or 18 HP at the smallest. While 500 hours isn't anything to worry about, it still seems like a very high price for that tractor with those hours. If you are OK with the HP and Briggs, I'd think $2,700 - $3,200 would be a more reasonable price. Make sure you see the snowblower mounted and operating!

Totally agree with Scout and Dave. I would much prefer that 3K series over the 1K series machine, but not for $4500. $3000-3500 w/ the snowblower, yes. BTW, the snowblower is probably a Bercomac. They make lots of lawn/garden tractor aftermarket accessories. IMO, if you live in Maine, I'd look into this> http://www.ingersolltractors.com/
