Need help removing shafts from the tranny on a g154 any help greatly appreciated!!

I've recently acquired a Bolens g154 2 cylinder and the long PTO shaft busted just behind the rear gear. I need to know how to get it out and the new one in. I have split the two cases and I am not wondering how to remove the shafts above the bottom long PTO shaft? I have a press and can press them out but I am not sure from which side and exactly how to go about it.

Any help would be great!

i have looked hither and thine and studied the thread you mentioned. It has been a big help. However he doesn't show how to REMOVE the shafts from the tranny. I have searched and searched and studied the service manual I have and no where I have found shows how to do this. I reckon a transmission person would know. I am not a transmission person. I am an engine guy. SO this is new territory. The bearings are in good shape and I would like to pull the shafts without pulling the bearings.

Success! I managed to figure it out. A little complicated. You have to press out the shafts from the bearings in such a way to be able to remove the shafts. Helps to have a press! In fact I wouldn't attempt this without owning or borrowing one.
It took some figuring. New PTO long shaft in and so far so good. iF anyone ever has any issues with something similar, tranny or PTO shoot me a message. I have lots and lots of reference pictures. There is absolutely no way to remove the PTO long shaft from the cases without splitting, tearing down the tranny shafts and gears and pressing out almost all of the bearings. I had heard tell someone said you could pull the long shaft out the back of the case.. uh no.

I'm glad you got it as the manual is hard for me to follow. Other than that there are c clips on many of the shafts it makes no mention of how to remove the bearings. I hope if I get to a repair like that it makes sense.
