I got a 05 2500 duramax. Got the plows but I'm going through and finishing the setup. I got a nice chrome headache rack that I'm going to try to put on

I need help on the-
What type of lights
Way to turn the lights on
What type of flasher to use
And any other things you guys think I need

Imo looking at putting $1200 into the truck but this list needs to stay around $500

How about a LED mini light bar?

If the truck has the plow prep package, it should have a light switch for a beacon at the right side of the heater controls, above the 12 v plug. The pig tail of this is in the roof, behind the third brake light. Pop it out and the wiring is right there. Just make sure you get a good seal when you re-install the 3rd brake light.

As far as types of lights, I like Whelen, but there are tons of choices. I'd go with a mini bar and use you 4 way flashers. Strobes in the tail lights can be distracting to other drivers and are not legal in some places (if flashing red).

Tearing apart the light right now

Yep - that's the switch. Can't remember the amps on it. Probably 15 or so.

I replied in your other thread too. I would highly recommend not mounting the 10ft plow in the truck. You'd be much better off with the 7.5ft plow, even with added wings.

I checked in the brake light on the back side and couldn't find any extra wiring

The plow is just a experiment

Hmm - maybe is slid into the roof a little? You have the factory switch, so it should be there unless somebody cut it out or used it for something else. Can you look in with a flash light and see any other wiring?

I can search heavier. Would it be tied with the taillight harness?? I used my phone flashlight but that's wasn't great. Thanks for the help

Yeah - but some people have had the tape left go and the wire slide into the roof further forward. It was right at the back of the light housing on my 04.
