Hi All
I have a problem starting my tractor, the problem is intermittent, It can start all day , then it just won`t start. But when it starts , it does start good .
When it doesn't start, the starter will not make a sound. I can ear the solonoid switch make a tick when I turn the key to start. So the solonoid seems to do its job
Nevertheless, I have tested the solonoid with a light bulb tester. Putting the positive probe on the solonoid bolt that is wired to the starter and grounding the tester's black wire.
The light turns on when I turn the key to start.
I have done some reading with a voltmeter on the solonoid bolt terminal where the 12V battery cable is fixed. the reading when key switch is off is 12.2 volt.
The reading at the bolt terminal where the solonoid is wired to the starter is 11.6 volt when the key is turned to start position.
I have changed both my battery cables for new ones and made sure the negative cable is properly grounded on the body of the tractor.
I don't think it is my battery because I have also tried boosting it with my car and it didn't made a difference
Could it be the starter that is becoming flacky?
On the key switch, I have wires to the voltmeter, fuel gauge and coil, could one of these introduce a problem?
any suggestion? I am out of idea
thanks
Martin
