Need help with info on a White mower..

I was in the market for a used rider and my son-in-law had a buddy he worked with who has a neighbor that had a used Craftsman rider for sale. I had to take my daughter to a softball game and had my wife and son-in-law look at it.

When I got back home there was an old White rider sitting on the back of the truck. The Craftsman they went to look at shaked, rattled and barely rolled; so they nixed it. The guy said he had an old White mower. The guy started it up for them, and mowed with it, it mowed decent, but needed a little work and an air filter and cover.

The guy told them it has a 12 HP. This engine is a two cylinder, looks to be a V twin type engine.

On a tag on the rear of the mower it has LOT/MODEL with 137-776-190 below it, I am not sure what numbers represent the lot# and which the model #.

It also has on the same tag MFG DATE with what appears to be a date code of H177D below it.

Can anyone tell me anything about this mower? Where can I get parts?

It's a White Outdoor Products mower. I would guess it is was built in the 70's or early 80's. It has a hydro tranny, with a lever for forward and reverse mounted on the left side of the mower just in front of your left knee as you are seated on it. The hydro tranny lever has a single speed for reverse, and about four indentations for increased speed in forward. It has a diverter valve that you pull up to stop the flow of oil in the tranny and place it in neutral when starting it and when pushing it when it is not running, the diverter valve as well as the brake lock are mounted on the console between the seat and dash. The brake/clutch is mounted on the right side of the footrest.

White outdoor products were manufactured by MTD going back to the 80's. I'm not sure exactly what date. If it goes before that you might have to go to your nearest AGCO dealer. what engine does it have in it? Onan, Briggs, Kohler,ect. If it is an opposed twin the two most common were Onan, or Briggs. If it has the Briggs in it it probably is an MTD model. Onan was used in higher end products. I'm not positive but I think they were built by simplicity.

The engine is supposed to be a B&S. The plugs look to be nearly 180 degrees apart.

I've tracked down some more info on the mower. It is a 1987 White LGT 1655. I have been unable to locate a manual for this unit. Can anyone tell me what type of hydraulic fluid the tranny will use? Will it have a filter?
