Century 3045
I just bought this tractor and need help figuring out what is going on with my locking diff. When i push the pedal with my heel it stays down and doesnt seem to lock in. My understandingbis that pedal should spring back when released? And that left and right wheels should both spin whenedal pushed in? Anybody that can shed some light on this or provide some service manual data to help with this i would be most grateful. Thank you in advance
Stephen

Im looking for help with this differential lock? I noticed alot of members have viewed thread but no input.
Anyone? Also know the spring is still attached to pedal and chassis. Pedal wont move freely and appears to be binding. Where it goes into the housing it looks like its connected by a rollpin. Cant see it clearly enough to see if pin has sheared Has anybody here had to work on this before? What needs to be removed to get a better view? I searched topics and couldnt find any Branson related threads. If you know of relevant threads and can point me there i would appreciate that too thank you

I can't be of much assistance, other than to verify it should work as you first described, it should pop back up when released, and you should feel it lock in with mild pressure. Both wheels should rotate together when locked in.

Ridgetop, I have a Century 2535 which has pretty much the same rear end as your tractor. The differential on mine always hung up on the floor mat until I cut a larger slot out. I have been following this forum for years band there have been few if any questions about the differential. I will look at mine to see how the spring is attached.

On mine, it does not engage very smoothly and you have to be stopped when you press the pedal to engage it. W Jones

Thank you both for your insight. From your descriptions it sounds like it might be kinda clunky. I'm wondering if someone might have forced it and possibly sheared the rollpin where the pedal attaches to housing. Im really hoping its that simple. Even that looks like a clusterfu...to get to.

Yeah you are working on a tainted tractor, taint a lot of room to get to that part! :D Willie Jones
