Hi there,
I have a new (Indak) switch for my heater fan 3 speed (but only need 2). Five push on terminals labelled L- M- H-B-C . Can someone tell me what wire goes where ? Thanks

Well it kind of depends on the fan and the switch. How many wires come from the fan and does the switch light up. Probably L for low speed M for medium and H for high. B should be + battery and C should be common or -. Just guessing with the info you gave.

Just 2 wires coming from the back of the fan. What would the common be used for.
Thanks for the response.

I noticed (after I posted the question) Cooldmax said C was negative then what would B be used for ?

I was researching this last night and found out this switch is to be used with a resistor block for operating the fan at different speeds. I am still looking for the wiring schematics.

I found Indak's web site and looked up the switch. There are several different models of this switch and it depends on what you have. Looks like the different positions connect different terminals. From what I've seen on there, C isn't used and B is positive from the battery. You will need a resistor block to give you the different fan speeds. Then B will go to the positive battery. L will go to the low speed on the resistor block, M will go to medium on the resistor block and H will go to high speed on the resistor block. That will give you your three speeds and then the block will connect to the fan's positive and the negative will go to the battery's negative. Hope this helps. Unless the switch has resistors built into it. If you have a part number on the switch I could look some more.

Thanks Cooldmax, There is no part number it was just a generic heater switch I picked up at Princess Auto for $10 to replace the 2 speed one I got with the heater from Sims Cabs. There was no resistor block with it, the wires just plugged into the prongs. I uplugged them without looking to see which one was where. I am going to try it the next couple of days. Thanks again for the help.

Hey Cooldmax - news flash !
After all that, the heater bracket wasn't grounded to the cab. It has been there for 4 years. Those things happen I guess. Sorry about that. Thank you I appreciate all the help.

Well I'm glad things worked out. Sorry I'm not much of a troubleshooter unless I'm there tinkering with it. Enjoy your heat and cab, I'm jealous. ;)
