I bought a new tc33d in Dec.04.I traded a kubota 2910 for it. The tc33 doesn't seem to get around as good with the kubota did when in mid range.Any incline or muddy situation usually forces me to have to drop into low range. Both tractors have a backhoe, although I realize that the 33 is heavier,it's also 3hp bigger. I saw a post about a pressure relief valve that made a little sense. Any feedback would be appreciated. WARNING I AM NOT A MECHANIC!

I believe all of New Holland's hydrostatic transmission pressure relief valves are fixed (non-adjustable). The pressure for the hydraulic system that runs the 3PH, FEL, or power beyond to your BH can be adjusted, but that is a separate system from the hydrostatic transmission. The hydro has it's own pump and self-contained hydraulic system.

One possible difference between the NH and your prior Kubota might be the type of hydraulic fluid and it's pumping characteristics, but I think the weight, gear ratios, and HP are primarily responsible for your differences in performance. ...just a guess.

The TC33 are pretty lite for there horsepower rating. Kabota are usually a little heavier machine for there horsepower. I wouldnt be surprised if that kabota was litttle heavier. Anyway I have a tc33d and and only thing you can do is make sure running at higher rpm when in mid-range in a mud situation or on a hill. The mid-range struggles a little when working it and at high rpm will do much better. If that dont help then you will have to drop it in low range.

All part of a hydrostatic drive and the way it was built.

Jack,

I too am not a mechanic and have limited experience with the TC33DA (60 hrs so far). I find that if I am working the machine with a box blade, rear blade, FEL, or mower I need to set the RPMs at 2200 or more. PTO speed is even better. I also ease up on the hydo pedal on the steeper climbs. This will allow the machine to climb better albeit slower.

I normally do most work in mid range. I only use low range when digging in dirt with the FEL or backing up the steepest part of my yard.

I see some posts about running at 1400 RPM or so to do work. Could never do this on the 33 unless on the flat and not working. 2000 is the minimum for easy ground work (like light grading or plowing snow on my gravel drive).

Hope this helps a little.

...Derek
