Need Hydraulic Oil Filter for old Satoh Bull tractor

I have an old (circa mid 70-80's) Satoh Bull tractor. When I went to change the hydraulic oil filter, I found it was disintegrated down to the metal. All the wrap was gone from it. I have that peice. Don't recall seeing a parts number on that part. I've tried to find a replacement but have not been able to do so. Help!

I'm not familiar with the Bull but the Beaver has just a metal screen, a tube, no wrap. At least from my experience. Maybe all of them lost the wrap long before I saw them.

My Bull just has a strainer. Been thinking of adding a filter to return line on loader. When I need parts I just do a Goggle search.

When I needed an odd filter in the past I used to cross reference and dig around the catalogs for WIX, Fleetguard, Fram and maybe Hastings. You can gleen a lot of info from that kind of a search and it always let me to a usable filter solution.

None of the Mitsubishi or Satoh tractors of that era had a replaceable media filter that I have seen. Could be wrong. They had a screen that was placed in the case of the tractor that filtered the hydro and trans fluid. I have never seen a wrap on the strainer, just a mesh.

Try a cross reference as mentioned. I found a mesh screen for an odd Japanese Shibaura (sp?) tractor back in the late 1980's by finding a listing in the Fram catalog and then reverse crossed it to learn the mesh was the same for a number of things and then picked it up locally. Not the same stated application put the same filter and it worked fine. You never know and I'll bet all those catalogs are on line and a search would only take an hour or so.

Here's the thinking on this. Tractor makers rarely did things like make a proprietary part that fits only their tractors. What they usually did was find a common part--with a resultant low price--and made it appear to be proprietary and unique to their models so people felt they had to buy it at the dealer and a higher price could be charged. Even recently I discovered the air filter on my Kubota L4300 and JD 790 are exactly the same yet different prices are charged by each dealer for the exact same filter. I did a separate thread on this. Seek and ye shall probably find.

You might also try the IH dealers. The 234, 254 etc tractors were Mitsubishi. The strainers are in a different location but similar.
