Need Kioti experienced help with purchase decision.

I'm looking to buy my first real tractor and have gravitated towards Kioti. I was interested in the CK27 and called the nearest dealer to inquire. He gave me all of the info I needed, then suggested I look at the DS3510. He has one on the lot and quoted me the price of $16100 delivered (2 hours away). I have 10 acres and the wife is getting into horses. I will need to dig post holes for fencing and for barn pole pilons. I also will need to grade my drive and maybe some brush hogging. My biggest concern I guess is the difference in engines. The CK27 has the Daedong engine and the DS info states it has a Kioti engine. What is the difference?

The engines are still the same manufacturer. You'd be going from 28 to 34 hp. About 6 more hp at the pto. 3pt lift is about 300lbs more even though the tractor weighs about 300lbs less. Even though a different model loader, they have the same specs. From what others have mentioned, the DS series is a good tractor just without some of the bells and whistles. That price seems fairly good too. I would take a ride there and drive them both. Either would do what you have advised.

From what you say, sounds like either will do what you want.

I'm really liking my kioti, strong, tough machine.

let us know how this all turns out.

In the end you need to pick the tractor which is most comfortable to opperate and has the capacities you need.

Going a bit over on the capacities is rarely a bad thing when it comes to tractors.

Like Victor said, drive a few different models, gear, shuttle and Hydro. Spend at least 20 min in the seat changing gears or ranges while operating the FEL. I'm a Hydro fan, but others prefer gear or shuttle. I must have driven 10 tractors of all different colors before deciding....no regrets.

The DS line is a no bells and whistles tractor, more in line to compete with the L2900/L4200 from Kubota or the 3032e/3038e from JD. My dealer doesn't stock them and I haven't seen many posts from people here who have them, so I don't know much about them. You'll have to decide how much some of the features of the CK or the DK lines are worth over the compatible DS tractor. I don't believe, for instance, the DS line has extendable link arms on the 3pt hitch, which is a big deal for me because I'm constantly changing implements. The fit and finish is much different and if you want an HST, the DS line is out, it only comes in gear versions. The DS line is more comparable to the DK line, but if you don't need that PTO hp you may get more bang for your buck for your needs with a CK27/30.

I looked at the DS before I got the DK HST and did some simulated loader work on the lot and I wasn't really impressed with the process to change directions. I'm sure it would do the jobs I'm doing, but it would be more like "work" to do loader work. I figured I'm going to have the tractor for hopefully 30+ years and spending a bit more for an HST and some perks would be my smart play.
Like Island says though, the difference in price would've bought me some nice implements and its hard now to get a $1500 box blade approved in the budget!

I have a CK25, shuttle,TLB,wood chipper,box blade,and had a 4 foot rough cut mower; I sold the mower because I got tired of beating it to death on the rocks, I have just a tad less than 900 hours on the tractor other than a nail through a tire,and a dent in the grill no issues at all,I have a small landscaping business ,and 3 of us use it,built driveways,lawns,dug graves,trenches for water lines remove stumps to name a few things we have done. We have been more than happy with the tractor,and would highly recommend Kioti to anyone looking for a similar sized work horse.

I bought a new Kioti DK35SE HST in May of 2011 with A FEL. Most of the summer it was used as a finish mower tractor, even with loaded tires it did great! Last fall I did some log skidding and was very pleased with the results. Every thing I skidded out was able to be stacked with the front end loader with forks. As of now i have 100 hours on mine and it works perfect, the hours on it are not easy hours either. I was out this morning and skidded out about 8 cord of tree length logs this time. Heres some pics of this months work . . .John
