Kubota- BX2200
I know this is mainly a tractor forum, However, I need help with my other Kubota! I have a KH151 excavator and I think I fried the engine this last weekend. The radiator drain hose developed a small leak and all the coolant leaked out. I was facing into a strong wind and never smelt a thing! Anyway, after a long wait I tried to start it and even though it still turns over it would not start. I added a little antifreeze and when I tried to start it, it started blowing the coolant past the radiator cap and now it's even leaking out around the intake manifold! Yikes! The motor was getting a little tired anyway so I guess it's time to fix it! I cannot find anyone that offers rebuilt Kubota engines. Any Idea's? I've started pricing the possible parts I'll need and I'm already up to $4000.00. My local dealer quoted me $5750.00 for a brand new one but I'm not sure what that includes. I'm gonna call Carver and see what they can do. I just can't believe that I can find rebuilt motors for almost everything out there except Kubota! I guess they just never go bad. : )
Anyway, any help or advice would be appreciated and NO I don't have the talent to rebuild it myself, wish I did though. Thanks

I see alot of low hour motors on ebay. Might find one there, Just do a search on "kubota" and see what you find. I know there is one guy who states that "he can get any one you want".

I would start looking at diesel repair shops. It may be more reasonable to just have what you have rebuilt. I'm sure it will still be pricey.

Before you dive deep, you could check the head gasket - the head comes away pretty easily - maybe the trouble isn't all that severe.

Confirming another post, it sounds like there is a compression leak through the head gasket into the cooling system which is probably why it will not start and why you are blowing the coolant out the radiator.

You may be able to have the head checked for flatness and just replace the gasket.

My first guess is that the cylinder head is cracked. Kubota's typically crack the head when they get really overheated. I would remove the head and look at it. Normally if the head is cracked you can see it with your bare eye. You'll have to look at the cylinder walls when the head is off to see if you'll need to go further. The prices you've seen sound about right to me.
