Tractor
Case IH JX95 4x4
Hey guys, and thanks for your opinions on the last post I wrote. I'm close to buying the MF 471 tractor at this point. Now I have to look at implements and here I'm trying to determine the pros and cons of bush hog vs. rhino. Does anyone prefer one brand over another and why? Here are the prices of everything I've found. I think the price of the tractor is ok, but am unsure on the price of any of the implements. Can you guys confirm any of these prices?

MF 471 4x4 w/ 8x8 synchro transmission - $23220
MF 1070 Loader w/84in quick disconnect bucket and hay spear - $6870
Rhino TW84 shredder $3300
Rhino SPHD auger w/9" bit $1100.

Thanks

Sam

I priced one as well while back with the tractor being same price. The rest seems a tad high. The quickie loader that I priced was about $5500, the 84" Brown was 2200, Hay spear was about $350.

I opted for the NH TN75. Basically same size but for me a little better layout. The dealer had better rep as well.

Yeah...I am just not a fan of the MF471 4x4 for two main reasons. Number one is that the auxiliary valves that are on the tractor and all the lines necessary to hook them up are all over the place on the tractor. They take up too much room and the vavle control handles are in the way of your three point controls, very poor design. Also, the 4wd axle & drive shaft sits off to the left hand side of the tractor completely exposed, again a poor design. I love Massey Ferguson, I just think they skimped on a few design aspects of the 400 series.

I do have several Kubota dealers in my area, but I've been hesitant about getting one, just because I've seen them used for lighter duty tasks. Out where I'm in the farm country, you hardly ever see orange, it's mostly JD, Case or Massey. I will be mainly using the tractor on my 60 acres for cutting/bailing hay, discing and ploughing, as well as fencing work. With its weight, and solid specs I figured Massey would be my first choice. Unfortunately, I don't have much experience with tractors in general as I just purchased this farm, and have worked mostly with rental tractors. This is why I'm seeking the advice of those with more tractor experience.

Have you looked at the Case JX series? It's a good solid tractor.
