Need p/n for Craftsman 44\" mower deck

I need to replace the center spindle/quill on my 44" Craftsman mower deck circa 1993. The only problem is I don't have a model number for the deck so I can't order a spindle without the model number for lookup. Anybody out there have a similar tractor & deck? The tractor is model 917.250051, 20 hp kohler engine. According to Sears the deck model number should be printed under the seat or behide it. Thanks.

Try this site, and see if anything looks close. You will find a lot of Sears tractors were built by AYP, or ROPER, depends on the year I guess.

Are the bearings gone? You can dis-assemble the part and get them locally from a bearing supplier. I use to have a Craftsman and that was what I did when I had the bearings let go on me.

I ordered spindle assy. # 285878 because all the dimensions shown match mine exactly. The only difference is that the one I recieved has two bolt holes in the blade mounting bracket and mine only has one central bolt which screws into the spindle shaft. I could probably buy a blade to fit but then I would have two different blades on the deck. (PS the picture on Jack's site shows the correct 1 bolt spindle but OEM part number is for the 2 bolt type spindle) Thanks anyway.

The bearing is gone, but on the spindle I have the shaft is welded to the pulley on the upper end and to the blade bracket on the lower end, not designed for easy disassembly.
