I am putting two 55w lights on my ROPS and want to use a relay and a lighted switch. I want the switch to have power to it when the key is off. I have searched TBN for diagrams but have found nothing that suits me. Just looking for a simple diagram that has 2 lights, one relay, one inline fuse and one lighted switch. Thanks in advance for any help.

I fail to see what you are looking for... A switch powers the relay, the relay powers the lights. About as simple as wiring gets. Do you just mean you have never done wiring and need an idea about how to do this? If so:

1. find a circuit to use to feed power to the lights. If you want it switched with the key, make sure the circuit is switched by checking it with the key on and off.
2. draw power from the circuit, put a fuse in it, and run that to the switched terminal on the relay.
3. Run the the other switched terminal to the lights
4. Run the other pole of the light to a ground near the lights (any screw with good contact should work, or drill for a new one)
5. Pick a circuit to use for the switch that drives the relay - it could be the same circuit as above. Run wire from power source to switch, then from switch to relay coil terminal, then run wire from other relay coil terminal to nearby ground, as above.

With pretty much any vehicle wiring, the whole metal frame/chassis is ground, so you don't need to run 2 wires to most things, just run power and then ground nearby.

I'm still not sure if this is what you wanted, but hopefully it helps.

Adding to what dstig1 said:
Fuse the power wire to the switch and a lighted switch will need a ground for the switch's light.
As for grounds, check and see if your current wiring uses ground wires or grounds each load to the chassis. If the factory ran ground wires to everything I would do the same.
Most relays have a wiring diagram labeled on them.

Here is a diagram that will help. For the light switch to be powered constantly, run a fused power lead from the battery. Disregard the ignition switch. The light switch would have a ground for the switch light. Some relays have 5 pins with one marked 87a. This pin is not used for wiring the lights. Use only the pin numbers shown on the relay.

Had to revise this as I missed the fact you want the switch powered with key off.

Dunno...the OP doesn't seem much interested. Ah well...

For just 2 lights, I hooked to the battery......installed an inline fuseholder.......went to a 30 amp rated switch...........then to the lights.

No relay really needed.

EDIT: I also mounted my switch under the hood due to children playing with switches.

boomer632, how did this go, did you get the lights wired in.

here is another schematic:

Get the power for the lights from a fused 12 gauge wire from battery, place the fuse as close to the battery as possible.

When selecting the Switch Power source use a multimeter and chk with the key on and off to see if you have the type of power you want.

luck on the project.
