I bought a used JD 4210 a couple of weeks back and noticed when I am using the finish mower ( I cut 5 acres with it ) around 30 minutes into cutting my feet start to get very hot, the area around the foot area receives alot of heat being blown back by the engine. The average temp here in the summer is about 93. I took the side panels off and it made a world of a difference, but I wish there would be some other solution that someone has come up with. The tractor is not running hot, according to the temp. gauge. Please respond if someone has had the same experience and found a solution. I checked and all the foam insulating pieces are intact. I just think it is the design of the side panels.

I haven't had a problem with heat, but I hated the stink when the wind was in my face.

My solution was to order the vertical exhaust kit, which was about $200. I'm picking it up on friday and I'll let you know what it does.

If you don't see a report on this post, check the one on the noise issue with the 4x20's.

I partially fixed the problem. I drilled 1/2 inch holes on the inside of the plastic side panels to let out alot of the heat. It is alot cooler but you still get alot of heat blown back at you from the fan. I drilled the holes from the inside so you can't see them from the outside b/c the metal screen camouflages them. It is just a problem when using the 540 pto, having to keep rpm's at 2600-2800.

Could you post a photo?

This has always been an annoyance at high RPM. The fan seems to blow the heat back and it exits just in front of your feet. Maybe try some temporary sheilds to see if you attach something to the FEL stanchions, it could maybe direct the heat away.

Or, I'm pretty sure an AC/cab model will fix this issue. ;)

The vertical exhaust kit solved my heat issues. Mowing on hot days used to be almost unbearable.

Yesterday I drilled more 3/8in. holes from the inside of the panel and it has helped out from the hot air being blown back at you but, and its a big but, I was moving a load of dirt ,12yds, and was using 4wd and its was unbearable the amount of heat that was coming from the underside of the tractor, felt like around the transmission. I really and truly thought I waas going to get a heat stroke. Does the transmission really get that hot or is this only my problem? I am very upset with my buy. Do the new 20 series do the same thing or is this just a ehydro problem or is this normal. Like someone said in an earlier post it feels like your sitting on an oven.I emailed the mechanic for progressive farmer to se if there was something I could do. It was hot outside but I have had Numerous other brand tractors and I have never felt something like this. I was thinking maybe there is a thicker fluid I could use or some type of additive. It never got this hot when mowing.

My former 4310 did not have the heat issue.
