'96 Kubota L2900 GST
Hello All,
I have purchased a used Woods 750 back hoe for my L 2900 GST and would like to make a sub frame to attach it. I have several ideas but not sure where to attach on the rear of the tractor frame. The front is not a problem as I planned on making a sub frame when I mounted the snow plow hitch. What I could use are pictures of several other manufactures methods of mounts, brand does not matter.
I can say the hoe will be very helpful to have. I have started to dig out a stump that I now know would have been better left alone. Where I live was nick-named a long time ago "Windy Hill and Stony Acres" and that is true, mostly rock to about 3' then nothing but it seams like below. The stump is a 30" mamosa that was cut down several years ago that we are tired of looking at. The problems are the 16" bucket that came with the hoe will not fit between the roots up close to the stump base leaving me with a almost 6' column of soil directly under it. This saturday I plan to finish the 10" bucket I'm making, dig in closer and chain saw some of the roots off close to the stump in hopes of then pulling it out. Did not take any pictures yet but will before it is completly out of the ground and post them. Thanks in advance for help with the pictures. Bill

You can take a strong cable and run it around the root ball and pull it up tight and the cable will cut through the roots usually if it has been dead that long. I'll try back tomarrow to attach some hoe brackets shown on my JINMA tractort & hoe combo.

Bill,
My backhoe came with subframe attached, and bracket hardware to mount under the tractor. Only problem was the brackets were made for a different model tractor. Here's a picture of the BH subframe.

After cutting the "hooks" off the original rear brackets ('cuz the original brackets wouldn't fit my tractor at all), I welded them onto a plate and used existing bolts to attach to the bottom of the hydrostat transaxle. Pic attached.
The drawbar is installed in the picture, but is removed to mount the BH.

Bill,
I'm not quite sure what you mean by this. I believe you plan to have your snow plow mounting hardware do double duty and secure the front of your BH subframe? If it's sturdy, that might work fine. I had to modify the OEM backhoe front bracket to fit my tractor. Right now I have the BH brackets mounted and also Front Blade brackets.

This picture shows both sets of brackets. The forward ones are for the front blade, the rear ones are for the backhoe. They look and work similarly. If building a subframe from scratch, I'm pretty sure the front blade brackets could be used to secure the front of a BH subframe. The subframe would just have to be made a bit longer than OEM, to reach the more forward location of the front blade/snow plow brackets.

Bill see if this drawing helps you out any. It's pretty straightforward.

Was unable to dig on Saturday due to the frozen ground, just not worth the abuse to me or the machine. I did get the bucket finished earlier in the week and give it a quick try. worked great on the roots.

Okie and PineRidge thanks for the pics, they are a big help. I just wish there was some bigger hardware under my L2900, I have all 10mm bolts I believe so I will need to attach to many of them to spread the load.

I made a simple backhoe subframe by bolting a piece of 2x2x1/4 inch tube to each side of the hoe frame and to the FEL where it attaches to the tractor midsection.

With the hoe feet down in dig position, I can use the hoe to lift the tractor up on its front wheels so that I can move the machine right or left in order to center myself on the dig line.

The tube is painted black and can be (barely) seen on each side of the rear tire in the attached photo. It has made quite a bit of difference in the hoe's performance.

Hope this helps,

Bill Vorhies

Another View: This shows where a block of wood sitting on a piece of channel hits the axel when the tractor is in dig position --hoe feet down. The 2x2x1/4 is doubled in this section for strength.
