earlier today my 422 power-trac the carburetor started popping, it then stalled out, i removed the valve cover the push rod was off the rocker i put it back on and tried to adjust, but the tap it became stuck, I freed the tap it up, and the tractor worked, i then adjusted the valve, but when i backed out of the garage the next day it stalled out when i put the PTO in now it will not start at all, the battery is fine, i have voltage to the starter but i think it might be the ignition switch do you think i'm on the right track?, any help comments or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

what year? and how many hours?, does the motor spin but fails to fire ? check for spark, if the motor does not spin check the PTO is not energized or check the fuse close to the starter by the engine (on my 425 the fuse was fine but fuse holder was broken) did you check the valve lash on the other cylinder? (my id10t helper ran mine on one cylinder for about 2 hours/wondering why it lacked power and would stall easily) last but not least check for rodent damage to wiring (wiggle test)

Not sure I understand what's being said here, but there's a safety switch that prevents the engine being started with the PTO turned on, unless I'm mistaken...

Note that if the PTO is turned on without an attachment, the hydraulic circuit is "dead-headed" -- the equivalent of a mechanical PTO being frozen or locked up...

After two days of messing around with it and almost taking out the engine, after having talked with terry from power trac, and reading your posts, i found out it was indeed the fuse!!! I couldn't find the fuse because it was covered in a black plastic housing, my son helped me find it! Man i am getting old. I wanted to say thank you to everyone who posted it really helped me out, I will continue to read these forums.

My son is typing this because my typing isn't that good. thanks again you guys are the best!
