Need some opinions on fuel flow

I've got an older, low hour tractor that has a bit of rust in the upper portion of the tank. The fuel gravity feeds from the petcock through 5/16 in. hose to a fuel lift pump (pic 1), which has a fine mesh screen in it, prior to going through the primary filter / water separator (pic 2). I have purchased another identical filter / water separator so that I can mount it inline between the tank and lift pump, in an effort to catch as much rust as possible before it reaches the lit pump. My question is should I worry about any diminished flow from adding this and if so, would changing from 5/16 to 3/8 in. hose up to the lift pump, help make up for any decrease? Thanks for any advice rendered.

G'day dukeyjoe.
It will be all good ,the Massey Tractors all have two fuel filters.
I suggest that you remove the fuel tank and give it a good clean out,it may be the best way on the long run .

There is a possible problem in that fuel lift pumps have an inlet restriction limit and the filter in front may limit fuel in high flow (full power) or high restriction (partly plugged separator/filter) conditions. Not saying you shouldn't do it but pointing out something to be aware of.

shona13, I agree but chain and sealer will have to wait. I need this tractor working now.
MHarryE, would changing to 3/8 in hose from the tank to this new filter and on the the lift pump help with restriction limit?

Larger hose is not going to offset the flow restriction of a second filter.
Using a large filter will have less flow restriction.
