Need Some Sort Of Auto Water Hose Cut Off--Please Give Me Ideas

I had bought a flowmeter from Walmart garden shop about 2 years ago which you could set to run continuous, timed or certain number of gallons. Never used it since I ended up installing a whole lawn sprinkler system. Gave it to my daughter to use in her garden sprinkler, now wish I had kept it for use in my garden that I put in this year.
