Hello,
I have been following the forums here for a while and now I want to post some things but I need a bit of advice.
What I want to post will have pictures to show what I am talking about but I am not sure the best way to post photos here. Do they need to be hosted elsewhere and linked or are they hosted here?
Also so of my posts will fit into more than one category. Let's say I made a top for a gator. That could go in a few different forum categories. Can this be "cross posted" or is it preferred that I just pick the forum group I think best fits my topic and stick with one?
I don't want my posts to not look right and I don't want to upset anyone by posting the wrong way.
Thanks for any advice

M.

Hi Blastfurnace. When you get ready to post, select the option for Go Advanced and scroll down. You'll see a button for Manage Attachments. Click that, it will bring up a pop-up that lets you add photos and will keep them in an area on TBN that allows you to use them in multiple posts. Whenever you open the manage attachments, you will see all of the photos you have put up previously there.

BTW, I won't say welcome ( you been here longer than me), but have fun being active here. It is a fun place to participate in.

To post pictures, I click on "Reply To Thread", then at the bottom "Go Advanced", about in the middle of the page you will see "Additional Options". Go down and click on "Manage Attachments" then "Add Files" and you should be able to select pictures from your computer and upload.

There may be an easier way than that, but I don't know it.

Don't be too concerned about making mistakes. Unlike many forums on the net, the moderators at TBN aren't going to jump all over you for an error. Use this thread to experiment with your pictures which can be from your PC or a website.

Welcome as a poster.

They are best hosted here, that way when fotobuket folds they are not lost. Also there presently are different ways of posting pics.
At the bottom of my reply is an example. In advanced editor
I went to "manage attachments" --> "add files" --> "upload files" -->"done"
This puts your pic at the bottom of the post as an attached thumbnail. To put it INLINE I do a "preview post", click on the thumbnail, copy the URL from the thumbnail, then insert it in my post between

Example:

attachment.php

Also so of my posts will fit into more than one category. Let's say I made a top for a gator. That could go in a few different forum categories. Can this be "cross posted" or is it preferred that I just pick the forum group I think best fits my topic and stick with one?
It's always a problem deciding where your post based on brand, attachment, application goes. I prefer peeps post in one forum that shows the most interest then link to it in other forumss.
I don't want my posts to not look right and I don't want to upset anyone by posting the wrong way.

You have probably upset people already. Just don't upset the mods, and they are nice to deal with.

Just do the best you can. There are a few self appointed "posting police" who may give you a hard time if they don't like they way posted something, but the vast majority of folks will be understanding and point you in the right direction when they can.

Oh... and welcome!

Pics hosted here and not in "the bucket". That's great.

I thank all of you for the replies and the welcome.

I live on a 400 acre farm in Ohio and while the farm is modest we have collected an extensive array of tools. We have a full machine shop with lathes and Bridgeport milling machines. Overhead cranes and car lifts big enough to hoist a 3010.
I am always working on something that I think would benefit others on this forum or if I have a question I can usually find it by searching TBN.
I look forward to being more involved.

Btw I love the comment "you've probably already upset someone"

Thanks again

Mark

Oh look! With the phone app I can add photos directly from my phone!

Please bear with me as I practice a bit...

Gator roofs are WAY expensive! Was that too rough? Maybe a little fine tuning.....

Now that's a bit better!
