The belts on my Murray lasted 6 years. I only changed the trans belt this year in the hope that my transaxle wasn't hosed. The belt was still in good shape. The transaxle was hosed.
I was scared off the Cub by the first reply I got here. I went to Epinions and looked around.
I'm now the owner of a John Deere LT160. I didn't have time to wait to order a GT235. The LT seems up to the task. It pulls my hill so much better than the Murray ever did. Perhaps I don't need such a strong transaxle after all for my puny little yard. We'll see how long it lasts. Perhaps I should have visited the Cub dealer, but it was farther away, and they didn't answer the phone this morning. I was in a hurry. ...paid $3100 for the Deere with tax and a grass collector. The Deere has a throwaway transaxle, which doesn't make me happy, but the leaves are done, and I can get ready for finals next week.
