Need tear down old barn, dont know where to start?

They took down an old barn locally that the owner sold to a lumber salvage outfit. They used a prentice loader is carefully remove and load all the framing timber. A lot of the early barns used chestnut for beams. )</font>

This is definitely worth checking into. If it is an old barn someone will undoubtedly pay you to allow them to take it down and haul it away. If it is Chestnut, start smiling now. Even if it isn't, there is a good chance it is old growth hardwood worth it's weight in gold. makes me want to go start up the table saw just thinking about it.

I'd try the FD also, with Erie County(WNY) closing the fire training center in budget cuts, I know our volunteers would jump at the opertunity

You can sell the old wood and room. I watched a barn be removed piece by piece and the ower cleaned up. All the wood was used for art stuff in New Hope PA or run thru a planner onsite. It was very cool to watch.

Personally, I would burn it since I just like to burn stuff. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
