I finally need to bite the bullet and replace my rear tires. My Mitsubishi ( I know....this is the Yanmar forum but hey, there's more action here) has 8.3 x 24 tires mounted on 7" rims. I am really wanting to go up to 9.5x24 tires. I know most manufacturers list 8" rims for 9.5 tires. Has anyone ever mounted 9.5's on their 7" rim? I have seen some online reference to the antique Farmall guys replacing 8.3x24 with 9.5X24 on the same rims. Anyone ever go up a size on their tires?

You will be fine unless it's 4x4 in which case you will need to increase the front tire size as well.

Thanks.....already got the F/R 4x4 ratio covered.

I'm looking to up the size on my tires. How did you determine the correct ratios?

math, or look on a chart and get the circumference or put it on the pavement or dirt and roll it marking the start adn stop point and then measure the distance for the front and rears for one rolling rotation, then its just math once you have these numbers.

I went from 8.3 to> 9.5 on the rear of my tractor with no problem, although the yanmar rims are 8" wide, I couldn't see why a 7" rim wouldn't be OK, There will be a great deal differents in the height of the 2 sizes,
check out the Picture,

dNd....those look great. I would like to replace my factory rice paddy tires with similar or even R2 rice and cane's. Couldn't find any reasonably priced R2's so decided I'd have to go with R1 AG's. Your's look super aggressive like the true rice paddy tires. Where did you get them and can I ask what you paid?

Knotweed...I looked at some online tire dimension charts to find the rolling circumferences. I don't have my notes handy but in a nutshell.... I figured the ratio with the stock 6x12 F/ 8.3x24R .My tractor is basically the rebranded CIH 254/255 tractors ( main difference is factory ROPS, tire combo's, grill and CIH speced Mitsubishi to use the K3E engine and mine has the K3F). The 254 came with 5x15 front/11.2x24 rears. The 255 came with 4x15 fronts/9.5 rears. I found the RC's for all three and figured the F/R ratios. I had already replaced my fronts and had gone up to 7x12's. My rolling circumference of the 7X12's was pretty close to the 255's 4x15's ( that used 9.5 rears). Nothing came out as exact ratio match but they were all close enough that I wasn't worried about stepping outside of F/R ratio. I will actually have to build some spacers if I go up to 9.5x24's because my FEL subframe just clears the 8.3's that are on it. CIH made a factor 2" wheel spacer for the 254/255's so I'm not concerned about axle damage by setting the tires wider, which is something I was hoping to do anyway. My tractor with the 8.3's is pretty narrow and I really want to gain a little more stability/increase width.....one of the reasons I want to use the 9.5's

Can't you swap your wheels side to side for wider stance like Yanmars do?

Already have. At their widest/current spacing the tire track is only 50" wide. Flat makes me pucker at times! Plus my sons are often on the tractor and although they have used and been trained in safe equipment operation for years, it makes me nervous!
