Hi!!! my name is paul and i have a kind of tractor.

i have a 1962 unimog 404 that is used as a farm tool & toy.

for many years we have used the stock NATO tires but would like to move into the world of tractor tires.

we need a tire that is 14.4x20 and can be driven on the road. what i mean by on the road is something that does not wear down fast.

can you guys help please. what is out there tire wise? i have looked and found nothing.

thanks Paul

I used to subscribe to a unimog mailing list that was pretty good and had a lot of knowlegable owners on it.

I can't remember exactly where though...

You could probably get help there.

Here's one site you might look around...

The following site actually has a link to the mailing list I am thinking of, I think:

unimog network site...

Just in case someone here can't answer your question directly, I bet one of the guys connected to these sites will be able to.

Hope this helps a little... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

how much you think for one?

Here is a link to a place that sells similar size tires, but not the same item.

Unimog Wherehaus tire page

Looks like tires like you want may be in the $300 to $400 each price range...

Don't really know much about Unimogs...just that every once in a while something comes up (like your post or an update by Von on his restoration project) that sends me off browsing and dreaming for an hour or so... /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

If you can, how about posting a picture of you Mog?

Good luck in your tire search. Hope you can find something within your budget.

so by going to a tractor place the tires should be less than going to a unimog store.

No doubt about that I would agree. The only issue would be that tractors rarely (if ever?) can run at Unimog speeds...so the tractor version of the tires may not be rated for the speeds you need/want.

Nice pair of mogs by the way... /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

yes i am finding that spped will be a very big issue but the MPT tires are rated at 55 which is the top speed for the mog so i should be good there.

still waiting on the emial for the prices.
