Need to build a fence - help!

I have a phd mostly I use it with a big stepped auger for planting shrubs.
I was going to use it for fence posts but even a 6" auger makes a big hole and then you have to run around with gravel and backfill. Ends up being quite a bit of gravel after a while. I have been thinking of a post pounder. Been looking around for a used one. Turns out they don't show up very often.
So now I am thinking about making one. The hard part is a 12 foot beam and a 500# weight. I am going to think for a while. In the meantime 3' deep ,gravel in the bottom PT post and backfill with gravel sounds right.

I'm heavily considering planting trees instead of putting up a fence. I was thinking a nice row of tower poplars. The cost is roughly the same, and much more aesthetically pleasing.

Besides, I can get a tiller if I go with the trees

I ended up planting trees, and will be picking up a tiller this weekend. lol
