I have some yard / pasture that was left very rough and bumpy after flooding last Spring. I am going to rototill it to level it out. My question is should I use a land-rake right after I rototill it, a little later, or not at all? I was thinking that if I land-raked it right after I rototill it that it isn't going to do much other than push the dirt around like a rear-blade would. Should I let the yard / pasture go through several rain storms to let it settle and harden a little and then go back over it with the land-rake? Or just rototill it and leave it at that?

The land rake can help remove (rake) up debris. If the soil is basically rock free then I would just till it and then run a drag or chain harrow over it. You can make a drag from an old box spring mattress, a log or a heavy piece of lumber. The drag will help smooth out the area and break up lumps of sod after tilling.
