I have a 2850 with a backhoe attached. My husband recently passed away and I need to learn how to service. The machine has been sitting for two months, all hydraulics were operable the last time it was started, June 11. Now, the rear hydraulics will do nothing! Where do I begin to troubleshoot! Thanks from Iowa.

Hi Haygal...From your description, a good place to start would be to ensure the hydraulic line is hooked up at the rear of the tractor...Does the tractor have a front end loader (FEL)? If so, does it raise and lower? Good luck.

Haygal, I am assuming you are talking about backhoe, or are you saying 3 point hitch is not working? Try to give us a little info on what function you are trying to use. Not totally familiar with Kubota, but I would assume some control feature is keeping you from what you are trying to do. If you are selling this and some one is telling you it does not work, they probably are trying to get it dirt cheap from you, so you have found a forum that some one will help you.

With my Woods BH, i have to open up the remote in the cab of the tractor to put power to the controls of the BH. Have to tie the handle in the open position, because every once in a while, it'll pop into neutral spot. Hope this makes sense.

Are you referring to the L series 2850 ? Doesnt it have the power beyond ports ? make sure the hyrdraulics hoes are hooked up.

Haygal, so sorry to hear of your husband's passing. I'm not sure about your Kubota, but many have a safety switch that prevents the backhoe from operating when someone is not in the seat. On my BX25 I also had a problem once of a twig getting stuck in the switch seat, making the backhoe inoperable even when I was in the seat. That was hard to figure out for a while.

It's probably just a matter of a hookup or one of the various safety switches or levers that must be turned to power up a system. It's so hard to explain them all....my choice would be to ask someone local to stop by and run through it with you. Tractor people are a pretty friendly lot.
good luck, rScotty

I am very familiar with the L2850 and its hydraulics, HAYGAL, but lots more
info is needed. There are no safety switches or interlocks to worry about.

I assume it is also possible she has a backhoe that has an independant hydro system off the PTO and she just needs to engage the PTO? At least that's how the kubota BH I'm familiar with works...
