We have 700' of shoreline on a lake where weeds are cut and eventualy they end up on our shore. The fella's doing the cutting for the lake help me out by picking them up after I pile them, but here's my question: is there a way I can reach out and scoop the weeds with extended forks or something. Any info would be appreciated. Until now (16yrs)I have been forking them out then filling freinds spreader. Thanks, Doug

Without being able to see the pond in question it's rather hard to suggest something.
Are you able to get close enough that you could tilt your loader bucket down and back drag the weeds up onto the shore? I would imagine the answer is no, but it's worth a shot if you can safely get that close.
Something else you may be able to do is to get a chain harrow to go on the 3pt hitch, back it up to the bank and drop it down on the weeds and pull forward to drag them out. You wouldn't need to get as close with this method.
You might also buy a boom pole and fashion something that you could hook onto the boom and drop into the water then drag out the accumulated weeds.
Just a few thoughts. I hope you find something that will help out.

Thanks for the reply Kioti. I'm on a 1000acre lake and yes I can get down to edge safely. Doug

we had an out break of a water weed that washed up in clumps on the shores here. They would wash up with the taller waves like a windrow of carpet or hay. I made a set of sork tynes like you used with manure to let the grass wad up and and lod into piles eith out the beach gravel getting taken up.
Iff it was in the shallows wasshing up Id make a rake to attach to the bucket to back drag it up to the shore line. THey used to make track loader buckets like that for lagoon mainence wa back yonder.

If I were making something like this, I'd want it mounted on the FEL so I could ALWAY see the lake! Those things could have way of sneaking up on ya if you had your mounted on the 3PH and somehow got distracted while backing up.

Safer to have it out front, so you never turn your back on that pesky water..........

I got one suggestion to modify a dump rake and then use a multitoothed attachment with long tines to pick from shoreline. Just wondering if anyone has done something similar. Doug

Sounds like a boom pole setup with a 'rake head' might do the trick.
You know, like the old manual wooden hay rakes.

Since you'd be pulling the weeds to shore by backing up, you might even try out the idea using, say, a 16ft 2" x 6" with a 4" 'T' bolted at the far end.
The 'T' rake head could have a dozen or so 6" spikes driven through to act as tines.
Naturally some bracing would be required and you'd have to attach all that to the FEL (probably could wood brace it inside the Bucket.)

Good luck!
