Hi All

My FEL is fixed at the back to the tractor axel which is good, but at the front, only 2 bolts support the angled plate (see picture). That seems to be a lot of weight for just 2 bolts. The angled plate is also bent due to too much load. The frame is not supported in the middle of the tractor. I would like to know my options. Can I use 2 more threaded hole in the front of the tractor (see picture) or can I use the 4 bolts that attaches the gearbox plate in the middle and below the tractor to add a supporting cross beam.

thanks for your suggestion
Martin

Your pics do not work,,
instead of "Post" or "Submit Reply" hit the "Go Advanced" or "Preview" button, so you can see if you got the posting right before you finish.

Give it another try!!,,,

Seems to me those two holes with the blue arrows would work fine for additional support. Just make sure the bracing you add doesn't interfere with the axle swing.

As cougsfan says those two holes. I'm also considering using those 4 bolt holes your talking about on the transmission access plate. I did see a photo of a loader that had a crossbar there but it didn't have anything going to the rear axle. It wouldn't hurt to add that but you may want to make it a bolt on so you can remove it to access your clutch.
I have an industrial that has a heavy front radiator guard but don't know how yours is made. Stiffening it up won't hurt.

I agree with cougsfan about the front 2 holes, but all the MF loaders I have seen have a cross beam at the clutch housing area.
Measure the depth of the holes first so you don't get too long a bolt. Also make you dig any compacted mud out first.
NOTE There is a drain hole at the clutch to allow oil to drain away from the clutch if the engine or gearbox seals leak. Make sure this is not blocked(by cross beam or dirt) or worse case, you may get oil on your clutch plate and have to split the tractor.

Lastly, I see you have a multipower gearbox. To extend the life of your multipower, pull the transmission dipstick and measure the distance from low to high marks THEN add a mark the same distance above the high mark. This ensures you have adequate oil avalible for the loader AND MULTIPOWER when on hillsides. I learned this from a Massey Ferguson mechanic. I used to live in hill country and had a 178 and 135.
