I am looking for a reliable tree shear. I have a New Holland TN65 with Bushhog 4505 FEL. I would like to find a shear that attaches to the FEL that I have. I need recommendations of brand and approximate cost. If there is a brand to stay away from, I would appreciate that advice also. I am looking for a shear to cut up to 12-14" pines (softwood) and maybe an occasion hardwood that is about half that diameter.

I have had one recommendation for a Tree Terminator from someone I know. I have no personal experience.

I have a 14" Dymax Ranch Axe tree shear with the brush guard. Weighs just over 1800 lbs. Had it for 3 years. Don't think I can destroy it. The design is similar to the Tree Terminator but I have not used that one. I think the Dymax is one of the best on the market and made by a company that makes much bigger tree shears. Mine will cut a 14" cedar and probably a 10" hardwood. You will need a brush guard for use on a tractor and even then will need to be careful. I have used a tractor for tree shearing but skid steer is much faster. With a tractor it is difficult to see the shear or base of the tree. Skid steer is much more compact and mobile. Most tractors also have relatively slow hydraulic flow and psi of 2500 vs 3000 psi of skid steer.
Do not get the kind with the rotating cutting wheel like the bobcat Brush saw. They are only good for brush and do poorly on trees of more than a few inches in diameter.
