Hello everyone,

I'm in a position where I need to order some business cards. I know exactly what I want to have on them except one little detail, I don't know what to put as my job title. I know that sounds ridiculous but this is a new position in the company.

I work for an equipment auction company. The job I do has two major parts, one I wish to showcase on the cards and the other doesn't have to be.

I help create sales fliers (take pictures and provide descriptions of equipment) and maintain the Facebook page. That's the part I don't think maters as far as business cards go.

The part that does need to be on the cards...

I search for consignment equipment and make sure people are aware of exactly what items we have in upcoming auctions. I actually seek out and talk to people who own equipment while I'm on the road distributing the sales fliers.

EDIT... I answer all the emails pertaining to the equipment auction, phone calls pertaining to consignments and am the only one making a commission on the consignments.

So how would you classify what I do?

I would term the position something like "Sales/Merchandise SPECIALIST"

I like that! I need to incorporate something to do with the consignments, since that is the only reason I need cards to start with. I left that part out before, sorry!

How about something along the lines of "Sales and Consignment Specialist"?

Does specialist sound too egotistical? I didn't even want my name on the cards but management felt like it was important for people to be able to put a name with a face.

Too egotistical? Shoot, I'd call yourself a "sales and consignment consultant".

That's a tough choice. If you work in a rural area, then "Sales and Consignments" without some appended title gets the message across. There are those who will be impressed by some sort of title, and others may snicker to themselves while you are walking away.

If you are going with a title, then "Coordinator", "Agent", "Specialist", or "Manager" seems to fit.

Now that reminds me of Secret Squirrel or 007. lol

They understand "Agents" around here. "Specialist" is an expensive word. I would choose an agent over a specialist. Specialist sounds very expensive here.

How about......."Director of Sales and Consignments"? People love talking to directors and managers.
