Neon Light?

I hope this thread will be allowed for us to discuss on how to make Neon Light sign yourself? I had a guy telling me he would show me how to make it cheap and save a lot of money, but unfortunately I won't be seeing him again until Sept 8th and to be frank I am somewhat being impatient about it Curious really got best of me I had to ask here!

Think of the benefit some of you landscape business owners might have with it by making it yourself??

You might want to google "build neon sign" or something like that... I'd imagine you will have much better success than here.

But, you did fish out a reply, so maybe that's all you wanted?

Ironically Thursday or Friday night on tv show "How Its Made" had a episode on it.
Maybe you could check on line and see if its available there?

xlr82v2, Based on the time of your post and your location, you must have either got nothing from your wife/lover or woke up on wrong side of bed this morning! No need to get all cranky when somebody is asking question even if it is something you don't like. As matter of fact, why would I be bother asking if there are wonderful thing, as you already mentioned, called search engine. Unfortunately, when you are trying to search, many result come up with links to ebay and million of internet businesses selling neon light so it will be like looking for needle in the haystack. If only I were looking for it on search engine say 10 years ago, the answer probably would be first thing to show up on search engine.

As for everyone else, thank for replying and I will look it up on tv website, but I hardly watch much TV unless it is NFL football, however I will make time for it if it is worth watching. Remember, the goal is to make it cheap, too!

when you google some thing like neon sign put -(minus) sign then some thing you don't want like neon sign -ebay -custom that will exclude the things with minus sing thats how I found this link

I remember learning a little about making neon signs a while ago. It seems really all you need is some glass tubing and the ends. I'm sure somewhere in there neon gas comes in, but I don't distinctly remember that part.

I did a little bit of glasswork in college for my chemistry classes. There's definately a knack to it. You have to know just when the glass is ready to bend and then work smoothly and quickly. I would guess that with the level of craftsmanship present in forum members most of us could pick it up pretty quick.

Hmm... well, I'll have to add to my project list:

Make neon light to go under tractor.... experiment with blue light... maybe Kubota orange

Consider outlining dump trailer with neon lights.... observing amber//red requirements for side/back.

Loks "easy" to me. I think with about 1000 hours of practice time I might just get one to work. Just kidding, I suspect with some practice and the right materials and tools you'll get some made.
