Last Wednesday I bought a new LT1045 from Home Depot. They had a sale where you could get 10% off and 12 months no interest. Upon arriving at the store I actually found out that you could not receive the 10% off on John Deere or Cub Cadet. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif I still went ahead with the purchase and I must say that this mower is a gem. IMO

Now I have a few questions for some of you guys, and gals if their are any.

1. Has anyone used the Dremel blade sharpener tool and how well does it work?

2. Has anyone used the above tool on a Genric dremel?

Congrats on the purchase! Keep us posted on how she does. I've not used a dremel for mower blade sharpening. I use a bench grinder.

I've seen a blade sharpener attachment for a Dremel, but learned that they don't make one to fit the old Dremel model that I have. I was accustomed to using a bench grinder, but when I moved back to town and didn't have a bench grinder, I sharpened the lawnmower blade for my daughter's lawnmower just using one of the stones with my old Dremel. It did a very good job and only took a half a day. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif The things we'll do when we have too much time on our hands . . .. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Why weren't you allowed to take 10% off? I have the same intention and if they don't allow you to do this, I'm definitely going to a dealer. Thanks!

They, (Home Depot) said that John Deere and Cub Cadet wouldn't allow them to take 10% off their mowers. I guess Cub and Deere fix their prices and that is that.

I looked all over the web just to see if the 1045 could be bought for less and everywhere I looked had it priced the same. I do love this mower so far with 1.5 hrs on it. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Thats right, Cub will not let HD cut their dealers throats. You would be so much better off buying from a dealer anyway.

Gamble77,

Dang! Had I known you were in Conyers, Georgia I would have bought one from you. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif I am in Loganville.

Well I guess I know where I can come to buy things for my Cub, that is if I not a reject for buying my mower at a big box.

Pardon my ignorance on this subject. Do the dealers have any room to move down on list price then? What are they willing to do (generally) to get you out the door in the equipment? I'm just trying to set my expectations on this subject.

I am high price conscious but would be willing to take the list price if the dealer would throw in something extra. thanks!

First lets all try to understand that there is hardly ANY markup on a sub-2K lawn mower. You can't expect a dealer to come down any more than $50.00....if you do then you will just be fooling yourself. Secondly Cub is offering a free tractor cover to anyone who buys a Cub Cadet riding mower this month (a $75.00 value). Plus why buy from a big box store who isn't going to be able to perform warranty work? I would buy from the independent dealer even if they were $100.00 higher!!

The dealer price should be the exact same as HD and that is what you should expect to pay, plus you will get a free cover, plus the peace of mind knowing you can return to that store for parts and service.
