Tractor
LS MT240HE
After waiting almost two months I finally received my new 240HE. WHat a great tractor. I was coming off a MT125. The new tractor is in a different league. Tons of torque, power and very little vibration. Also, because the tractor is gen 4 the exhaust doesn't stink like on the MT125. The bigger size take a little getting use to. I had one big rock that the little tractor couldn't lift. The new tractor had no problem lifting it. I haven't looked yet but I hope there is a 12v outlet. I may try to mount a wireless backup camera.

Let me know if anyone has any questions.

I've had my MT125 for a year. Logged close to 150 hours. I'm trading it in for a MT240HE.

Any lessons here, for those new to tractors currently shopping?

LS make a great tractor and you get a lot for you money compared to other companies. It's important to make sure a dealer is within an hour or so from your home for service. Many dealers provide pickup and delivery for a fee. Also, think about the size of the tractor and where you will store it. The size of your property and what you want to accomplish will determine the size of the machine you need. You may only need a MT125 if you have just a few acres. The MT125 is a work horse and will do just about anything you want. It will easily move dirt, rocks and grade albeit slowly. Call your insurance company and get your new toy insured. It might not cost you anything. The backhoe is nice to have but if you are not doing a lot of planting or stump removal it might not pay to get one. . Also, the BH has to be removed and stored if you wanted to add implements such as a rototiller, box blade, etc. The 240 HE was the smallest frame tractor I could find in a 40hp which still fit in my garage. I wanted the extra power for digging, and moving rocks, etc. It also has a 3rd gear. I find myself using M instead of H for most things but M moves quite nicely. If you want to move materials across a large pasture the extra speed will help get your job done faster. I would also go on tractor house and get prices, from other dealers, and use them for negotiating. Local dealers have to charge tax so keep that in mind. Let me know if you have any more questions. Overall I love the 240HE. I had to build a fueling tank because the fuel tank is behind the seat and to lift a 5 gallon container and try to fill the tank was cumbersome. Instead I bought a pump and nozzle that you would see at a gas station for not a lot of money. The pump has a hose that I put in my container for diesel and it will pump the diesel quickly. I have to watch the gas gauge as I fill. There is no automatic shutoff. I wish the 240 had two steps to get it and that the one step was bigger. There is a cup holder mounted pretty high, I moved that sucker down and bought a plastic console from Mahindra that has a cell phone holder, cup holder and a place to put whatever. I mounted this on my fender and it fit quite nicely. I'm thinking about putting a rear backup camera on my machine. I have the BH so I would probably have to tape the camera to the BH arm and remove it when I was digging.

This was my solution for holding my gloves, the seatbelt and an extra bottle of water or whatever and it was free!

I also fabricated this so I could have an actual useful toolbox,

I also repurposed this as a second cup holder as the OEM one holds a can of wasp/hornet spray, I'll have to get pictures of it tie wrapped below the OEM one.

Those are nice mods. I immediately stole my wife's Cascade bucket :) I haven't fiddled with the toolbox yet - that is next. I did wrap the pins that hold the ROPS in with tape and re-inserted them to reduce chatter. I was thinking of buying a piece of 1/4" steel and bolt it in under the mat where I step on to the tractor. I saw one post that showed a stress crack. I wanted to do this on both sides of the tractor.

Yep, do the step mod /brace for sure! You won't believe how much difference it makes... reall feels solid when you step up! Her is the pic of the one I did. Congratulations on finally getting the tractor!

Thanks. It finally arrived. I was ready to cancel because it was taking so long. Your brace looks nice. Did you bolt one side and weld the other. Hard to tell. I don't weld so I was just going to bolt a 9" x 10" 1/4" steel plate under the floor mat. I think that would do the trick. I was also thinking of getting another step and modding it to make one bigger step.
