Tractor
b2710 FEL, 72" MMM
well, i've done it. ... bought a b2710 today.

i guess i took the same path a few others have. started out looking at a $12,000 B7500-gear drive but figured if your gonna spend this much you might as well get HST. then i thought the 7500 may be a little small for my needs. the 2410 had the extra power and position control but was only about 800$ less than the 2710 which seemed to be quite a bit more tractor but then there's the 2910,....etc.......

anyway, yesterday, i found a dealer that had a new 2710, FEL, and 72" MMM for about 500$ less than the best price i had found on 2710, FEL and 60" MMM. so, after reading a few posts about the 72" MMM and walking my 10 acres, i decided the 2710 with the 72" mower was the way to go.

thanks to those who responded to my earlier posts and all who have helped make TBN a great research tool..

Baldguy,Thats a great rig! I have the same thing and love it. What bucket did you get, the 54" or the 60" and what tires?

it has the 54" bucket with tooth bar and hooks and turf tires. i'm a little concerned about the tires. in the long run i think the turfs will be fine, most of the use will be mowing and pushing snow (not a lot, central indiana) but initially i have some dirt work, landscaping and cutting in a driveway and i'm not sure the turfs will handle this? the dealer said he'd swap the turfs for R4's but didn't seem real enthusiastic. what you guys think?

Congrats on the new rig, maybe you'll get some snow to play in soon. I use turf tires(loaded) in the dirt with good results. Play(work/w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif) with them a while and let us know what you think.

BALD GUY: i did the same, stared looking at 7500 then decided to go to 2400 or 2710, would have bought either one, but found a great 2400 . so i bought that. i love my 2400 so am sure u will love your 2710, by the way i have R4's and they work extremly well for me, and i do move a lot of snow.

Bald guy!
You bought the best model made by Kubota!! OK, so I'm biased
because I own one. ..A year ago today, I took delivery on
mine and it's been a great little workhorse. In another year
you be congratulating some one else and YOU'LL be the
expert.ha ha. On the R'4s I was told by my dealer that the
rating was better for loader work (stronger). The hydraulic
cylinders on your FEL are identical to the 3010 and are
capable of heavy loading and lifting.Enjoy your new toy and
It's cold outside so wear a hat. ...RayBee

I've never owned a tractor with turf tires, other than a lawn tractor, but I would think that for dirt work, you would definitely be better off with R4s. If you said you were only going to mow and do lawn maintenance (and really meant it/w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif), then I would think turfs are the way to go. I have R4s and I think they provide the best compromise between traction and "lawn-friendliness". Also, resale may be affected by the choice of tires (not that you ever plan to sell it - but if you ever want to move up to the M series...). I have noticed that resale/tire choice seems to vary a lot by region - maybe weather related?

This is my third Iowa winter with the B2710. Last year we got about 50" of snow, this year only 3" so far. I've got turf tires, don't use chains, and don't have the tires loaded. It moves the snow just fine, as long as you're in 4 wheel drive. I use the rear blade mostly, just use the FEL to pile it higher. I've got to say that I've done lots of landscaping/digging around here and the turfs have done just fine.
