Merry x mas! Finally got my 3040 with the cab, couldn't be happier about that (cab). As for the CVT, I gotta say I am not a big fan. Lag between forward and reverse is like a week compared to the hydro of my TC35DA! I read the CVT tranny threads before I bought and I am almost having second thoughts, almost. I like the cab so much, that I am willing to put up with the trans. I had to get the New Holland, so my 758c backhoe would bolt right up to it and have matching blues, otherwise, the CVT may have made me look elsewhere, even though I loved my TC to death, great machine.

Anyway, just felt I had to vent. I know the transmission will grow on me, as they all do. It puts more power to the ground than the Hydro, so that is good, just much slower transitions from forward to reverse and I am getting thatbbogging that guys have been talking about. though I think I may have figured thatone out. I think it is related to how much you press the accelerator. I had them pull the throttle cable off the accelerator, somi keep RPMs up and use the pedal like a hero, but still a little jumpy. We'll see how it works out. I hope it does, because the cab is awesome and I love the rest of the rig.

If there is anything the 30 series guys with the CVT have found to reduce the pain of the transmission, please pass it along.

Thanks
Tom

Sorry for all the typos, I am using this iPad thing and it keeps messing me up.
I have to figure out how to turn off the auto spell thing cause it sucks. Plus when I went to edit the thread, it wouldn't let me do it (no scrolling).

Make sure that your dealer has performed a calibration with the transmission fully warmed. The factory calibration procedure is quick and dirty, and has caused customer dissatisfaction if not redone at the dealer level. Be sure you are acquainted with the operator settings and optimize them for your needs and preferences.

I will have them do that, as I have to go back and get the backhoe attachment put on anyway. I took it home early because we have a chance of getting some snow here. Anyway, after i got home, I see they gave me a hydrostatic owners manual, so I can't adjust anything myself anyway. Keepsngetting better. Oh well, the trans works well enough to push some sow until I can adjust it and hopefully get her straight.
Thanks or the response on a holiday.

I have the CVT in my Boomer 8N, you may have read my reviews on it. I have not had the issues with "dogging out" like others have, but have noticed that it will accelerate past the set speed for that range then slow back down to it. I haven't noticed a "lag" in forward to reverse either, at least not any more than my 6050. Maybe you can just mash the pedal to the floor with the hydro but this to me is a lot like driving my forklifts so it was easy for me to learn. I have never owned a hydro model so I have no experience with it.

So you know that accelerating and then slowing down seems to be helped by having the dealer disconnect whatever cable they do im regards to the foot pedal. At least that is what I noticed between one with it hooked up and one that was unhooked.

As far as the hydro goes, it was super fast and worked great. You cold mash it to the floor in forward and then just go straight to reverse while still moving forward wih no glitches at all. The best thing in transmisions ever, in my opinion. No doubt some loss of power with the hydro, but still awesome.

I played a little today, and am starting to getnused to it. Only problem is i won't look like a speed demon with my loader work.

Give it some time, you will get used to the cvt. I have put 100 hrs on my cvt since August, let me just say I won't be going back to a hyrdo.
