2004 John Deere 4410 eHydro
As of last night, I'd put just over 20 hours on the new toy. What a workhorse! I've spent a lot of the time clearing and grubbing about 80' of a new access road that will run about 600' from our main road to a road at the back of the property. The backhoe is great for digging stumps, pushing trees over and raking roots. The loader is matched very nicely to the machine and the shape of the bucket makes it very easy to load stumps, brush and turf. Motionmatch and Loadmatch are everything I'd hoped they'd be. It's doing everything I used to do with a 490E excavator and a 544D loader. Of course it takes more time but who cares? This is for fun! The size makes it very maneuverable in the woods as well. I'd like to hear from others who have a similar set-up, 4410 eHydro/430/48. What do you find to be the optimum RPMs for various functions? Is it OK to move the tractor forward or backward with the backhoe or will that hurt the eHydro?

I'm glad you had a bit of patience. I knew if things were made right, you'd enjoy that machine. How about a pic or two of your new tool/toy...Be safe

hey everyone,
i got my 4410 in july and it now has 21 hours on it.i have'nt found anything but the key to stop this thing,,,what a power house it is.i had a NH tc29d and i gotta tell you, there is no comparison in the power department.6hp. sure makes a difference.
i started clearing some woods line away with the NH and gave up trying to do it with the machine, small stumps would stop it and i was forced to dig by hand,,%$#@,this is why i bought a tractor for pete's sake!i have since resumed the project with the new 4410 and it just goes like it is on tracks.anything in the way of the bucket moves quickly and effortless.i am very impressed with the capabillity of this machine.
as far as moving the machine around with the hoe i believe i would excorsize caution there,i have heard of a 4410 braking in half due to a backhoe.there is no doubt abuse was at hand as this machine was being used st a rental company.even so,these compacts perform well when used properly and should provide years of service when limitations are understood.
my machine performs well when operated arond 2-2400 rpm's.there is plenty of power at hand and if you can get the job done at lower rpm's why not,it saves stress on the drivetrain and at the cost of fuel these days every drop counts.my 4410 seems to be a real miser on fuel compared to the NH.i used to use a tank of fuel every 3 times i mowed, with the deere i get in 6 mowings.alot of difference there.
good luck with that machine,if you are half as happy with you'res as i am mine you will be completely satisfied.

Dave, sent you a PM with some more info. But I have exact same configuration on Cape Cod, with about 200 hours on mine (1 year old). I move around forward and backward with BH on all the time. BH stays on pretty much most of the time, and provides good real ballast for full FEL buckets of dirt. I try to stay out of 4WD unless I need it, so that I put less wear on the front differential. I usually operate around 1900 RPM if that gets the job done. But if I need to dig hard or carry a lot, I'll crank it up in the 2000-2400 range. If running the PTO, I just follow the instructions for RPM then.

Glad it's working out now.

BH Operation - I generally like to run 1600 to 1800 RPM. Plenty of power and it responds quickly enough without too much lurch. FEL I like it at least 2000 RPM for heavier work. Part of the reason is that the machine responds well overall at this RPM, i.e. it travels faster.

Good Luck with it. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Dave4410,

I can't say whether it would hurt the hydro but I doubt it. You are moving the tractor such a short distance. I'm responding to your post because a contractor doing work at my house used a JD 110 TLB. It is hydrostatic and has a rocker switch mounted on the right rear fender that allows operation of the hydro (forward and reverse) when seated in the backhoe posiiton. It can be a time saving feature depending on how much backhoe work you do. I wonder if it can be installed on the JD CUTs?

That rocker switch is called "Creep-to-reposition." It is great for trenching operations or other tasks requiring you to move the machine. It is activated using a thumb bar and directional rocker switch. If Deere could put that on backhoe equipped CUTs, then they would have some real winners. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I realized later on that when the transmission is in neutral, even on an eHydro machine, the tractor can be rolled in either direction using the boom and stick.

You can get off the machine with it in neutral without the parking brake set? I would have thought it would have turned off. For an experienced operator, moving the machine with the hoe would probably be second nature. I remember a long time ago, I watched an operator do something very interesting with a backhoe. A company was laying an underground phone line and had to go across the front yard. The only way they could get to the front yard was through the ditch. Trees were blocking any other routes. The ditch is good size ditch. He drove nose first in. He then used the FEL to lift the front up. Next, he used the hoe to push and lift himself until he was out of the ditch. I thought was pretty neat how he did that.

It's surprising what one can do with a backhoe. I once walked my John Deere 410C up a sand dune, backwards, using the loader bucket, backhoe bucket and stabilizers.
