I just talked to the dealer again today. They are installing the extra hydralic valve up front and I'm getting an RBG60 root grapple made by Long. Also a 6ft montana brand bush hog (I know it's not really a bush hog). With R4 tires.

It's gonna be a few weeks before I get it, the grapple has to be made and I want it all at once. That's gonna be a long wait

Welcome aboard! Enjoy your new toy and be prepared to "need" to get more implements in order to properly use it ;)

Well, I already NEED more implements and haven't got it yet. This is gonna be a long wait.

I got logs to move, and I tried cutting them up and putting the small pieces in a wheel barrow, man, that's way to time and labor intensive.

I need to grill me a big ole 1 1/2 thick ribeye tonight and chill out.:D

1 1/2" Ribeye sounds great! Throw in a cervaisa and I'll be right over.
Oh! we can also talk tractors.
Seriously, welcome to the form. You'll find a wealth of knowledge and very helpful people. Also, I know you'll love you Montana as much as we all do.

Buying more toys.....er useful implements....heck that's a given.

One suggestion I will make is get yourself a set of pallet forks with the quick change adapter. They are absolutely indispensable. I use mine as much or more than I use my bucket on my FEL. When I buy anything from the lumber yard (concrete is a great example) I have the boys stick it on a pallet and load it into my truck. When I get it home it's off the truck courtesy of my Montana 4940C and into the barn until I need them. When I'm fencing and pouring the cement for the posts I just pop the pallet of bags in the pickup and away we go. You will never regret the pallet forks, I guarantee that.

Well, hope the wait isn't too long for you.

Cheers.
Glenn.

I can second the forks (as you may have guessed :)), they're also good for when the dog gets into your stash of stakes and you have to move him off the front porch. Or when the mother-in-law visits...

My Deere forks were pricey, close to $1000 delivered, but they're a good high-quality unit. I'm guessing you can get ones without Deere tax included for less. If you're on a budget you can also check out some of the bucket fork threads in the attachments forum, they're not quite as nice as a good QA set but they're much cheaper for light duty work (closer to $200 or so).

I've heard it recommended to get the fixed rather than floating tine model if you've got a choice. Fixed tines allow for some amount of down pressure and also let you angle the forks as you like, floating tines stay about level and work best if you only move pallets on even surfaces - at least so I've been told.

How much are the pallet forks going to cost you or the steak and beer?

I got mine off Ebay. They were out of Lubbock Texas kind of a one shot deal. Some guy had brought them in from China and then went bankrupt. The finish is only fair and they are floating tines which for my purposes work great....pallets are not the same width all the time.

I only paid a little under $500.00 for mine. That was about the cheapest I could find. I considered the bucket types but they extend out too far when hanging on the bucket and I like to use the quick change feature of the FEL to change over rather than having to fool around lugging forks to connect on the bucket. The bucket forks also reduce the load you can lift.

So, just get out the old check book or plastic fantastic for your next happy purchase........

Good luck.
