Hello
I have a new Mahindra 6530, and have been preparing a seedbed in my field; i.e., discing, harrowing. The tractor has 26 hours on it, and I've been keeping a close eye on all fluid levels and so on...so far, it's running fine. This morning, however, when pulling the harrow, I noticed that the emission control light (on the right side of the steering wheel, with a "!" next to it) was blinking. I shut down and called the dealer, haven't heard back yet. Anybody know what's going on? Thanks very much, I REALLY want to get back to work!

What does the operator's manual say about it?

this is just a guess but take your air filter out and clean it out per manual instructions. I think I had to have my air sensor replaced shortly after I got the machine. The work you are doing sounds like it could be potentially dusty so I'd start there.

Thanks very much for replies;
I did clean the filter and the light is still blinking.

Ok, more information. The blinking light is a repeating pattern of 3 blinks, then a slight delay. According to the Service Manual, this indicates an issue with the Throttle Position Sensor. Three conditions (and fixes) are listed: 1. Low idle accelerator setting not proper (ensure the speed governor touches low idle stopper); 2. sensor loose (tighten the sensor bracket); 3. sensor damage (replace the sensor).
I'm not finding the TPS in the parts manual, so I don't quite know where it's located.
Elsewhere in the forum there's a procedure to reset the TPS on a John Deere by moving the throttle lever and then disconnecting the tps; repeating with the throttle lever in the opposite direction (engine not running). Has anyone tried this on a Mahindra?
Also, someone mentioned that disconnecting the battery for a time and then reconnecting might reset this code.
I just had the initial service done by the dealer as there was another warranty issue (maybe related?) The tractor was missing and smoking, very upsetting. The dealer fixed it, he said there was a loose wire (I don't know which one yet). Anyway, it seems to be ok now except for the aforementioned blinking emission control light.
To recap, my questions are:
* Where are the speed governor and the low idle stopper located?
* Where is the throttle control sensor located?
* does disconnecting the battery reset these codes?
* Will the light remain blinking until the error is cleared, even if the problem is fixed?
* Does the throttle extending/retracting recalibrate this sensor?

Any enlightenment is much appreciated.

I think its nomal for the light to blink for a couple of minutes after starting the engine but if it continues after the engine is nomal operating temp. you should have your dealer take a look at it. I'm sure it would be covered under warranty.

I have a new 5530 with the same emission control problem. With the tractor cold the emission control light is on steady. After some time it will go off. After about 20 minutes there is a distinct change in the sound of the engine. It runs roughly and smokes and the emission control light blinks in the three blink pattern. As of this time the problem is not resolved. It seems as though Mahindra has a systemic problem that has not been resolved.

If the tractor is allowed to sit for a half hour or so it will start and run fine for about 10 minutes or so until it again warms up and the problem reappears. I would be interested in hearing from owners of new 30 series tractors that hav seen this problem and have it completely rewsolved.

Same here on my 5530 4wd. It's going in for 50hrs service next week and I'll report back on this post on the results. It started when I took deliver last Nov. Called the dealer of the EC light and we both agreed to wait for the 50hr service and then to address the little bugger.

an update: The light finally went off, and has stayed off so far, after several hours of operation. The mechanic said that the throttle control sensor (located on top of the injector pump; left side of tractor) had a loose wire that apparently was causing the smoking and missing. He re-crimped the wire and all was well. When I first got the tractor back, the light was still blinking. It went off finally after an hour or two; it must have reset itself. I believe the TPS wire was the problem all along. The technical manual isn't that helpful; it has some good diagnostics, but no pictures or part numbers for this part of the tractor (emission control)
Anyway, it seems to be running fine, now; no smoke or coughing. In the meantime I received an email from someone else with the same blinking light problem, so maybe this is a systemic 6530 thing.

This is an update on the 5530 with the blinking emission control light and smoking problem. The trottle position indicator was replaced although the original one tested ok. It was indeed out of adjustment. The blinking light problem seemed to go away but the tractor still ran very badly after the initial warm up time with blue smoke and no power. The longer it ran the worse it got. The technician jumped the battery positive voltage to a solenoid (KSB solenoid) located at the base of the injection pump and the tractor ran much better. The KSB solenoid when powered advances the fuel injection timing during warm up. The conclusion was that the injection pump needed to be retimed. Pump retiming by the book was a significantly involved procedure but the pump was excessivly retared. Advancing with some compensation for local altitude improved the performance substantially but the tractor was still not correct under heavy load. The problem was a plugged fuel filter in the tank. Since I can account for all of the fueling with all of it being through a fine screen, the tank contamination came from India (the tractor has 35 hours). Although the tractor runs fine now the emission control light started blinking again after a couple of hours of use. Although I couldn't care less, Mahindra should.

My 6530 had a ruff high idle when new, the longer it ran the worse it got. took it back to dealer, they reset the timing runs perfect now. Now I have a blinking emission light, I have not got it back to dealer yet. it has 50 hrs on it, did first oil and filter change just before light started blinking.
