Well, that is very nice. Do you mean new to you? -- or did you mean that you dug up an incredible deal on a tractor that looks like new? By that, the 770 looks like brand-new! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Great machine...it appears to be in excellent condition too!

Are you planning on a Mid Mount Mower? If so, the mid-PTO kit is available, but those mowers are $$$$!

If a rear mount, a 60" unit will work great. If your property is flat, you might even get away with a 72" Rear Mower (but not a rotary cutter that big).

A 72" blade will work well for pushing or pulling snow, but might be a bit much for grader work (especially with turf tires). Depending upon your tasks planned, you might want to consider a 60" blade.

With any rear implement, you might want to consider getting suitcase weights too.

Congratulations on the nice 770!

yeah its new to me. its a 1993 with 330 hours on it.
yeah i dont have a mid mount pto on it, i dont know how much a kit costs to add one. i'll most likely just opt for a rear mount mower.

what kind of weights do you recommend Roy? wheel weights or a ballast box kinda set up?

ill most likely just be using the blade for pushing snow.

Sweet looking tractor bo! You can get the weights Roy mentioned at your Deere dealer. I have a set and their in one of these pics . Your 770 is pretty much the same tractor as my 790. I have parts manuals and such so if you ever need some info, just hollar /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

"what kind of weights do you recommend Roy? wheel weights or a ballast box kinda set up?"

You want weight on the front weight bracket for transporting 3PH implements. Since you don't have a loader, I don't think you'll need a ballast box. Although you can add wheel weights, I prefer those tires filled.

As far as what kind of weights (on the front), I'd pop the couple hundred bucks and go for the Deere suitcase weights. But, you can get four cast iron weight lifting type weights (try a yard sale) and rig up a way to mount them.

My 60" Befco rear mower goes about 450 pounds. I don't have front weights and I do not have the loader installed during mowing. I've not noticed any lightness on the front when transporting the mower. However, I've never transported the mower up a hill, either.
I'd really like to have a 72" mower. The tractor has the PTO horsepower for it. I just don't have the bucks (although this might be a good time to look for one...being Fall and all that).

Enough rambling...
You might get by with no front weights for a 60" mower...you'll definitely need weights if you go for a rotary cutter (much heavier!).

As far as the blade...depends on the size and what you plan to do with it. A 72" blade doesn't weigh that much and, for moving snow, it'll work fine. If you plan to do some earth moving, you're definitely want ballast in the tires and maybe up front.

BTW, if you love yr wife and kids, get used to wearing that seat belt.

I don't what size rear wheels that your 770 has but I used a set of rear wheel weights off of a John Deere 6600 combine on my 755. They weigh 185 a piece and they bolted up like they were made for it. Deere recomends 180 for each wheel so I figure I would be ok with them. I saved a lot by going with these because this is an older combine and there isn't much call for them anymore the dealer was happy to get rid of the weights. By the way that is a nice looking tractor.
