agreed. There was a thread that was delving into the labyrinth of hydraulic connections, and it was hijacked because the guy, like a lot of folks, used his caps lock and was anxious enough to get an answer that he tried twice. I know we need to be policed a little, but let's make sure that the policing doesn't stifle.

Power beyond kit is discontinued for 990

I just ordered one and wasn't told that. I also checked Deere's website and the PB kit still shows up in the build & configure wizard thingy. I don't understand why it would be discontinued if they are still selling 990's.

I sure hope I get mine ....

Edit: I just double checked and yup, the power beyond kit is still listed. You can click for a picture and description of it and on that page it says last updated March 2, 2005 - just a little over a month ago. They also are still listing the 8B backhoe as available for the 990, which requires a PB kit I believe, so I'm still holding out hope that my kit will arrive ....

Jeff, as said here your best bet is to get the "power beyond kit" installed for you tip and tilt. If that is not available then get a copy the instructions that comes with kit. This will clearly show you where to tap (pressure & return) lines to your SCV valve. Also, a hydraulic schematic, available at dealer will give the same info. Use quick couplers on these lines (1/2 inch) in case you add a back hoe latter. Always a good idea to get coupler 1 size up (3/4) from line to cut down on fricton loss.
This what I did with my JD 790, which is almost the same tractor as yours.
Yours is great tractor, have fun with it.

cheers,

Frank, I messed up on my post, I have a 970 JD instead of the 790 that I mentioned. Also, when using quick couplers it's always a good idea to go one size bigger then hose size on coupler. This cuts down on friction loss through coupler.

Sorry, but the neurons upstairs are leaving at a rapid rate.

cheers,

My power beyond kit arrived yesterday (haven't picked it up yet). It took a couple weeks to come in, but the dealer didn't seem to have a problem getting it. Either the kit's aren't discontinued like you were told, or I just got lucky and my dealer found one somewhere.

I'll post pics of the installation when I get it done.
