Hello,
I just took delivery of a new B3030 last week. However, after only a couple hours of use I noticed it was dripping a little oil on the floor after I parked it. I traced the leak to the small hole at the bottom of the starter motor.
So, it seems to me that engine oil must be getting into the flywheel housing through the rear crankshaft seal or perheps the bearing gasket, and then leaking out of the starter motor.
One thing I noticed was that there is some kind of gasket sealant (painted gray) where the starter motor is bolted to the rear engine plate. Is this normal? I would not expect a gasket at this location. The reason that I ask is that the tractor was delivered with 1.5 hours and I was wondering if this indicates that the leak was known and not fixed correctly.
The dealer is picking up the tractor today and I want to have a good understanding of where the actual leak is. I think that the leak from the starter motor is just a symptom of the real leak around the crankshaft.
Also, I checked the oil level and it is not overfilled. If anything it seems to have dropped slightly after I used it for about 4 hours this weeked laying 70 feet of drainage pipe.
thanks in advance,
Vic
