Picked up a B7100 today. Tractor is in excellent condition. One of the nicest used tractors I've ever seen, if not THE nicest. I'm extremely happy with the purchase. I have a Kubota Shop Manual for this tractor, and while it shows detailed parts breakdowns of everything, I need to know some basic info that this manual doesn't show. Here are a few questions:

- The hi/lo range lever is on the right side of the tractor. There is another lever sort of beside this one that is right next to the transmission casing that is sort of a shorter lever. There is also a decal on the fender that says something about the front wheels. I was assuming this lever engaged the front-wheel drive, but I can't get it to move. Anyone know what this is?

- Does the front-wheel drive engage/disengage, or is it full-time 4wd?

- Can someone give me a brief description of what the hydraulic block does?

I'm sure I will have many more questions. I'm really excited about this tractor.

The lever near the hi/lo is to take the tractor in/out of 4 wheel drive. It only moves a small amount and is hard to move if not free wheeling. This answers question 2. What do you mean by hydraulic block? If you mean the one on the right side of the tractor that is fed from the pump then I assume you do not have a loader. You can change the top plate to allow hoses to connect in for a loader or other implement. If you search by my name you can find pics of my B6100 (and this block) which is basically the same tractor with less HP. These are very tough little tractors.

As KutotainNH said, that lever is the 2wd/4wd lever. Up is 2wd and down is 4wd. If the lever still will not move, try taping the forward and reverse pedal on level ground while trying to move the lever. If not, you might want to get under the tractor and follow the linkage to make sure it isn't bound up.

When I had my B7100HST...left fender decal show PTO,right fender 2wd/4wd.
Block, hyd w/knob should have flow arrow, make sure open or fel also 3 pt. hitch may not operate well.

Thanks for the info guys. As I figured, I thought of a few other questions:

-The lever that is right in the center- kind of down low- some sort of speed control. I was thinking this was sort of like a cruise control, but on both
7100s I've owned, I couldn't get it to do anything. I'm thinking I'm just not doing something right. What is this?

- Will the hydaulic system on this tractor produce enough flow to operate a loader in an efficient manner? Seems I was reading somewhere that on some tractors, the hydraulic system will operate a loader, but b/c the flow is not really there, it will operate very slowly requiring you to add an external pump. That may not apply to the B7100, but just thought I'd ask.

- Can someone post a link to a site where I can find used/salvage parts? I have a few projects I'd like to do, but I'll need some parts. Certainly can't buy new from the Kubota dealer. I'm thinking of things like the mounting/lifting brackets for mower decks, etc. -just odds and ends from time to time.

The B1630C front end loader that came with my 1995 B7100 worked just fine. The old brochure I still have shows:
maximum lift height = 67.7"
digging depth = 6.7"
lift capacity at full height = 510#
breakout force = 780#
raising time to full height without load = 4.6 seconds
lowering time (power driven) without load = 4.5 seconds
lowering time (floating) without load = 8.0 seconds
roll back and dumping time = 2.0 seconds each

I'm guessing the lever you thought might be a cruise control actually is a "speed control"; it only holds the foot pedal in a given position. Mine would never hold for wide open and was seldom used.

This is a foot pedal position lock. Instead of trying to keep a constant speed ground by holding the right pedal at a constant position with your foot, this locks it in.

Don't forget to take it off. I almost went through the back wall of my garage using this thing.

Maddog,

How much did you have to pay for the loader? Did the price include installation?

Paid $3200 through Iowa farm equipment about a year ago. I think shipping was $180. Put it on myself, pretty straight forward installation and Im not a mechanic. Lotta money but had to have it. Looked for months for a deal, and this is the best I found. About a grand better than any of the dealers around my area could do.
