- Getting old. Sold the ranch. Sold the tractors. Moved back to the city.
My neighbor showed off his newly acquired SELF PROPELLED baler yesterday.
It's an NH Hayliner 500 three-twine baler (late 1970s vintage) with an interesting front end instead of a hitch.
Alfalfa ready to be baled (almost). Had a rain shower Sat morning that's slowing things up around here. Lotsa storage space for twine bales. Note the bale rotator at the output end.
Big Deutz engine to run the whole shebang. Pretty sure it's factory installed.
There's a dual hydraulic pump arrangement on the engine shaft. The smaller pump runs the steering. The larger pump drives the hydraulic motor on the front wheel.
Googled the manufacturer with no luck. Looks like this is a piece of real collectable farm stuff.
Hope it works as good as it looks.
