Gentleman,
Is the tc 40 DA a good chose for mowing (finish and bush hogging) in the first place and a bit of hay making (+-5 acres) and a bit gardening ==> plowing ( +-5 acres)

The finish mowing is with a 23 trees. If i take the tc 40 d (without hydro), i will buy me a little mower for mowing around the trees first so i have only straight lines to do.
What is your opinion?
manual or the hydro
And at least what can I expect for the life span of this tractor (+- in hours)
AND is a hydro more expensive as a manual transmission (without the maintenance) only problems, extra problems,...

The steering mechanisms on TC40 units work quite well, so adapting to straight only mowing is unnecessary. A Mid-Mount Mower (MMM) will be quite versatile and flexible for finish mowing, and a Rear-Finish Mower (RFM) will do a nice job on a rougher material.

Potato -Potahto; for your size jobs a hydro or gear will work - try both before deciding

The tractor's lifespan will probably match your life span.

HST is more expensive up front, but in my opinion is worth it. There will not be "problems, extra problems" with either Gear or HST in a new TC tractor (with the usual caveats against the rare, rare, rare system failure that can occur in any mechanical device.

greg what type of hay making?
round or square
small areas < 10 acres fields or > 20 acres
a lot of guys around here use 2120s and the 40 is in this same category, so I believe it will work ok.

I just bailed corn fodder & soybean fodder this weekend w/ my TC35D hydro.. running a NH273 w/ thrower. Then hit the corn field w/ the disk and tiller.. and used an Oliver Superior 76 grain drill w/ a cultipacker hooked to the back of the drill to plant winter wheat. The TC40 should do fine.. I also run a 2 bottom moldboard plow.
